Welcome to my Private Little Cyberspace

After growing up in the small town of Maissau at the Manhartsberg in Lower Austria, I studied at the Technische Universität Wien (Vienna), Austria, and graduated with a Master's degree in electrical engineering/communications engineering. Then I went on to do a Ph.D. at the Signal Processing Lab of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland.

Currently, I am Principal Technologist at Symmetricom, working on solutions for perceptual quality measurement (check out my book on this topic). Before that I was Chief Scientist of Genista, a company which I co-founded back in 2001. I have also held Assistant Professor positions at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

On these pages, which I've been maintaining since 1996, you can find out more about my research work and publications, a collection of my favorite quotations and web humor, as well as games.
